THERE ARE MANY WAYS THAT YOU CAN
HELP. |
You can use your credit card to
make a tax deductible donation to purchase food.
This can be done through Network for Good. Walk and
Knock is run 100% by volunteers and we have no paid staff. None of
the public donations that we receive ever goes for anything other than to
purchase food. (Like all credit card clearing houses,
Network for Good does charge a 3% fee on all credit card transactions that
they process on our behalf.)

You can make a tax deductible
donation by check.
Send a check made payable to InterService Walk and Knock.
Our address is PO Box 353, Vancouver, WA 98666. Again, 100% of
that donation will be used to purchase food. |
You can make a donation of
supplies.
Each year we use approximately 6500 boxes, 3 dozen rolls of 2" or
3" package strapping tape, 3500 removable adhesive id labels (in
sheets of 8-labels/sheet), 300 large trash bags,
15,000 #10 envelopes, 200
1st Class US Postage Stamps, 15 reams of plain white 20# copy paper (used
for providing instructions and updated maps to volunteers), 4 reams of
multi-colored 30# copy paper (used for vehicle signs), and 40 to 50 large
barrels to place at collection points throughout the Clark County area.
Most of these items are donated each year, but we always fall
short. When we do need to purchase these items, it is done so using
funds that we have received from private sources, donated specifically for
administrative purposes.
These items can be donated directly, or a monetary donation can be made
specifically earmarked for purchasing supplies. |
Volunteer your time.
Each year we fall short of the number of volunteers that are
needed to sufficiently cover the entire county. This is a huge
endeavor that takes months of planning. But it all boils down to one
thing, YOU! We need as much help as we can get.Make the very selfless decision to make a difference and
volunteer. You can sign-up right on this website by going to the "Volunteer"
page. There you will find a listing of all of the volunteer
opportunities that are available, as well as locations, dates and times.
In 2006 we had approximately 4,900 volunteers turn out to to either use
their vehicle, or walk door to door to collect food.
It was one of our best years for meeting
the total coverage needs, but we could
have used hundreds of additional walkers and dozens of additional vehicles. A shortage in volunteers means that
food did not get collected. That, in turn, means that fewer of our
neighbors are served through our food banks. |
Become a corporate sponsor.
Corporate sponsors pay for paper bags that get delivered to
the regular subscribers of The Columbian Newspaper. These paper bags
list the items most needed, the date and times of the food drive, and
other information intended to encourage people to give food.
Corporate sponsors also pay for the bulk of the advertising for the
event. The more sponsors that we have, the more advertising we are able to
do. This directly impacts the amount of food collected as well as
number of volunteers who turn out to help.
There are benefits to being a corporate sponsor. Details can be
found on the "Sponsor" page on our
website. |
